Adam
Club Consultant
By 19, I was running the Recreational programme at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club. Whilst learning my trade at grass roots level, I progressed through my MAG qualifications (Level 4) before being told that I will be the new Head WAG coach!
I began a year of mentoring under the guidance of world renowned coaches Georghe Blasch and Paul Hall MBE. By 2007 I had successfully completed my Level 5 HPC WA qualification and was tasked with guiding a group of Junior athletes towards selection for the Beijing Olympics 2008.
Marissa King was a key team member with Kayley Cooke a travelling reserve. In 2009, I was fortunate enough to grace the competition floor at the 2009 World Championships held in the O2 in London. The commonwealth Games in Delhi 2010, also bought about success within the programme, with 3 athletes representing Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively.
By 2013, the Seniors had left a legacy of titles and medals at International and National level, with a group of talented young athletes on the cusp of National Squad, before I took up the role as National Development Coach. I travelled all over the British Isles working with the best 10-15 year olds and running coach education clinics.
In 2015 I was encouraged to the take on the Performance Director post at Notts Gymnastics Academy. Already a highly successful WA club, with a history of top MA athletes, the Academy required a new direction to develop the Participation programme, rebuild and nurture a MA squad structure, alongside ensuring the likes of Becky and Ellie Downie continued to be selected and challenge for medals on the international stage. 2017 proved to be a rather special year for Ellie and the Academy!
By mid 2019, I had returned home to Huntington Gymnastics Club and within 5 years, turned an underperforming programme into a thriving, inclusive, competitive and successful team across the various competitive pathways and age groups.
And now I am ready to share all of my experience, passion and knowledge with as many people as possible, delivering sessions in an energetic, fun and inspiring manner!
